Agility Classes
Agility is great exercise for you and your dog. Dogs love agility and so do the handlers. This is a wonderful way to begin off leash training. (In a fenced yard) agility is now being used in behavior modification for shy, reactive ad over energetic dogs.
Classes are held indoors at PetX. Class size is limited and is on a first come first serve basis so reserve your spot now.
AGILITY 1
INTRO TO OBSTACLES
4 Week Class $150
Requirement: some basic obedience (not perfect, just general knowledge) Class will teach your dog two new obstacles each week. Teaching how to enter and exit each obstacle correctly and to hit the contact zones properly. Dogs will become familiar and comfortable with each obstacle one at a time and will have fun learning something new. This class will be on leash until is reliable.
AGILITY 2
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
4 WEEK CLASS $130
Requirement: Agility 1. This class focuses on putting what you learned in agility 1 putting it all together and starting to run small courses. You will be starting to send the dog ahead and fine tune any problem obstacles. Concentrating on both of you having fun and really knowing the obstacles and doing them correctly.
AGILITY 3
HANDLING SKILLS
6 WEEK CLASS $l80
Requirement: Agility 1 and 2. This focuses more on the handling skills and getting the dogs speed and accuracy improved. Really concentrating on the hard obstacles, weaves, and teeter. You will begin to learn front and rear crosses for speed and shortening your runs. This is all about teamwork between the handler and the dog. This is also getting you ready to try some competition if you choose. Or just be able to do some full course fun runs.
AGILITY GAMES
6 WEEK CLASS $180
Requirements: Agility 1 and 2. This class with teach you all the games involved in agility trial. You will learn all the rules and how to perform all agility games such as: Jumpers, wildcard, colors, jackpot, and more. We will do mock runs so you can practice and perfect your time, handling and accuracy. This class will be tons of fun for you and your dog. We will also go over how to sign up for trials and how they work.
FUN DAYS
A fun day will be scheduled before opening class day for the outdoor season so those who are doing class to check out the new location, and new students who want to try it out first. Watch for date.
